Mintage:  39,055,431

Comments:  1896 cents are readily available, though there should be a small premium on grades AU through mint state compared to the common dates of the 1900's.

The overwhelming majority of varieties for this year are repunched dates.  The best varieties are variety 1, which is included in the top 100 die varieties for this series, and variety 20.
