Obverse 27

Reverse AB

Obverse Diagnostics

Date Position

Repunched 18 to the North

Obverse 27 is identified by repunching to the north on the 18, with date placement at LH.

Reverse AB is yet to be observed with any die markers.

Comments:  Variety 27 was first identified by Ed Nathanson, who submitted the above plate coin during late October 2016 for inclusion in this book based on the date repunching of obverse 27.  Upon examination of the coin, the repunching elements of obverse 27 seem to be identical to Snow's obverse 20 from the Snow 16 die pairing.  After comparing the date placement and depth impression of the date from the Snow 16 die pairing and obverse 27 above, there are differences that would differentate the two obverses and confirm they originated from different working dies.

Plate coin:  Ed Nathanson, XF40 details
