Obverse 28 is identified by repunching to the south on the 96, with
date placement at C. Obverse 28 may also be identified by die
file marks around M of AMERICA and working die artifacts in the
denticles below the date. The advancement of moderately heavy die
flow lines are evident on obverse 28.
Reverse AC is in a similar die state as obverse 28, with the advancement of moderately heavy die flow lines.
Comments: Variety
25 was first identified by David Killough, who submitted the above
plate coin during early October 2016 for inclusion in this book based
on the date repunching of obverse 28.
The
die file marks around the M of AMERICA are very interesting in regards
to their presence on obverse 28. The die file mark above the left
side of the M is substantially wider than the other file marks, but at
the same depth within the face of the working die.
