1892

Mintage:  37,647,087

Comments:  1892 has the second lowest mintage behind 1894 for the 1890's.  Securing issues in circulated grades up to XF40 should be easy, but premiums are higher in grades AU and mint state compared to the following decade.  Most examples are well struck and have even color, but some exist with unattractive, mottled toning.

The best die variety for 1892 is variety 13, which is included in the top 100 varieties for the series.  Variety 5 features the use of obverse 1 and reverse A, which were initially in service during the proof 1 die pairing.
