Die Crack From 8:30

Obverse 75 is identified by date placement at RE and date repunching that features initial date impressions to the north above the flag of the 1, to the south below the base of the 9 and to the north within the lower loop and above the upper loop of the 6.

Reverse AAY develops the following die crack:
1.  Die crack from the denticles at 8:30 upward through the left wreath.

Comments:  Variety 76 was initially identified by Russell Doughty, who discovered three examples of this die pairing.  The above plate coin was given to this author by Russell and represents one of the three that he had discovered.

During mid May 2018, David Killough submitted a fourth known example that is equivalent in die state to the above plate coin.

Plate coin:  Mark Clewell Collection, XF40
