Obverse 34 is identified by date placement at LE and die lines below the ear and to the right of Liberty's headband.  Obverse 34 may be additionally identified by lint hub-throughs by the nostril, within the denticles below 'AMERIC(A)' and within the denticles below 'U(NITE)D'.

Reverse AAF.4 is rotated 10 degrees clockwise.  Reverse AAF has developed die subsidence at 5:00, rim breaks between 11:00 and 1:00 and has acquired clash marks above (O)N(E).
Rev. AAF.5:  Reverse AAF has developed additional rim breaks between 1:00 and 1:45 as well as between 2:00 and 2:45.

Comments:   Reverse AAF was previously in service paired with Obverse 33 during the 1865 Fancy 5 Variety 37 Die Pairing.

During mid May 2020, David Killough submitted the above plate coin for inclusion in this book based on the Obverse 34 die lines.  Upon examination of David's coin, I was able to determine that his coin was struck from a die pairing that was previously identified by Russ Doughty.

The Reverse AAF rim breaks of the above plate coin are not completely visible due to wear, though close examination reveals their presence; therefore, I have cropped the reverse image provided by Russ Doughty in order to illustrate the Reverse AAF rim breaks.

During mid March 2021, I was able to identify Reverse AAF in its latest die state yet identified through a coin within the inventory of Executive Coin Company.  Executive Coin Company granted permission to use their images, of which now represent the Variety 38a Plate Coin.
