Obverse 54 is identified by date placement at RE and date repunching
that features initial date impressions to the south within the upper
loop of the 9, to the east below the flag of the 5 and to the north
within the lower loop of the 5. Obverse 54 has developed
light die flow lines.
Reverse AAC is rotated 7 degrees clockwise and is in a similar die
state as Obverse 54, with the advancement of light die flow lines.
Comments: The
date repunching of Obverse 54 is very similar to that of Obverse 39 of the Variety 39 die pairing.
Variety
54 was
first identified by David Killough, who submitted the above plate coin
during late July 2018 for inclusion in this book based on the date
repunching of Obverse 54.
