Reverse Q Die Crack Mapping

Obverse 17 is identified by date placement at C, the base of either a misplaced 8 or 3 digit embedded in the neck of Miss Liberty and a defective top / broken base 3 digit of the date.  Obverse 17 is observed with noticeable working die flow lines, which are the result of metal flow along the surfaces of the working die.

Reverse Q exhibits a similar die state as Obverse 17, with the presence of noticeable working die flow lines.  Reverse Q has developed the following die cracks:
1.  Die crack from the rim at 3:30 extends upward through the right wreath.
2.  Die crack segment extending through the middle arrowhead  and the lower outside oak leaves of the right wreath.
3.  Die crack segment extending through the wreath stem, ribbon knot and the first outer olive leaf.

Comments:  The Obverse 17 misplaced digit is most likely the base of an 8 or 3 digit, due to the curvature of the misplaced digit artifact.

The Obverse 17 broken base of the 3 digit represents the beginning of what will become a larger break as the digit punch progressively deteriorates during its service in 1883.
