Reverse W Die Crack Mapping

Obverse 22 is identified by date placement at RE and date repunching that features initial date impressions to the south within the lower loop and below the base of the first 8; to the south within both loops and below the ball of the 6; to the southwest at the upper portion and to the north at the lower portion within the upper loop of the second 8.  Obverse 22 is observed with lint hub-throughs within the denticles below the date and has acquired a clash mark in front of the eye of Miss Liberty from a clashing event with Reverse W.

Reverse W is rotated 4 degrees clockwise and may be identified by a lint hub-through extending along the lower edge of the lowest inner oak leaf of the left wreath, as well as lint hub-throughs within the denticles below the left ribbon end.  Reverse W has acquired clash marks through (C)ENT and above the top arrowhead from a clashing event with Obverse 22 and has developed the following die cracks:
1.  Die crack from the denticles at 1:00 extends downward along the outer edge of the right wreath and intersects die crack #2 in the field at 3:15.
2.  Die crack from the rim at 3:00 extends downward along the outer edge of the lower oak leaves of the right wreath and continues through the lower arrowheads.
3.  Die crack from the denticles at 12:00 extends downward through the top left of the shield and continues through the outer edge of the left wreath to the top of the oak leaf at 3:00.

Comments:  Variety 21 was first identified by David Killough, who submitted the above plate coin during mid May 2021 for inclusion in this book based on the date repunching of Obverse 22 and the die cracking of Reverse W.
