Obverse 22 may be identified by a small die line from the denticles between O of OF and A of AMERICA.  Obverse 22 is observed with a downward sloping date with date placement at C and excessively polished eye socket and base of the first feather.

Reverse S is identified by class IV hub doubling on the design elements.  Reverse S has acquired clash marks to the right of the denomination and through the C of CENT.

Comments:  Obverse 22 will later be in service during the 1865 Fancy 5 variety 26 die pairing and reverse S was initially in service during the 1865 Fancy 5 variety 3 die pairing.

Although it is a small attribute of obverse 22, the die line from the denticles between O of OF and A of AMERICA will be necessary to identify obverse 22 during possible earlier die pairings before the die polishing occurred.

Rick Snow of Eagle Eye Rare Coins was extremely kind in allowing me to use his images to illustrate variety 25 for this book.
