Obverse 12 is identified by date placement at RE and a circular die line in the headress.

Reverse AC is rotated 5 degrees clockwise and has acquired two sets of clash marks to the right of the denomination.  Reverse AC has developed the following die cracks:
1.  Die crack from the rim at 2:00 extends into the right wreath.
2.  Die crack from the rim at 3:45 through the middle arrowhead and into the oak leaf below it.  A small die break forms at the top of the middle arrowhead.
Rev. AC.2:  Reverse AC has developed a cud between 3:45 and 5:00.

Comments:  The die line in the headdress of Obverse 12 is most likely the result of an error during the production of the working die.  Working dies are given a conical shape by a lathe in order to receive impressions from the working hub.  In this case, the lathe left marks on the working die that remained throughout the hubbings from the working hub.

During mid April 2021, Robert Lutzel sent images of an example of Variety 13 with a cud developed on Reverse AC between 3:45 and 5:00.  Robert's example represents the latest die state of Reverse AC and has been assigned the Variety 13a die pairing number in order to capture the Reverse AC.2 die state.

Reverse AC will be retired from service due to the break it sustained, resulting in Obverse 12 being paired with Reverse AAK during the 1865 Fancy 5 Variety 42 Die Pairing
