Obverse 38 is identified by date placement at RH and date repunching that features initial date impressions to the south below the serif and base of the 1; to the south below the base of the 9; to the north above the last 1.  Obverse 38 has acquired a clash mark in front of the eye of Miss Liberty from a clashing event with Reverse AL.
Obv. 38.2:  Obverse 38 has now developed moderately heavy die flow lines.

Reverse AL has acquired a clash mark through the C of CENT from a clashing event with Obverse 38.
Rev. AL.2:  Reverse AL has now developed moderately heavy die flow lines.

Comments:  The initial date impressions around the 19 are almost identical to that of Obverse 23 of the Variety 18 die pairing.
