Obverse 43 is identified by date placement at RH with the top of a
misplaced 9 digit in the denticles below the right foot of the 1 in the
date. Obverse 43 has developed moderately heavy die flow lines.
Reverse
AQ is in a similar die state as Obverse 43, with the advancement of
moderately heavy die flow lines. Reverse AQ develops the
following die cracks:
1. Moderately heavy radial die crack from the rim at 7:15 through the wreath.
2. Radial die crack from the rim at 11:30 along the right side of the shield.
Comments: The Obverse 43
misplaced digit is most likely the final 9 of an initial digit punch
impression that was far to the southwest with respect to the date.
Variety
39 was first identified by David Killough, who submitted the above
plate coin during mid February 2017 for inclusion in this book based on
the Obverse 43 misplaced digit.
