Clash Mark Through The C Of CENT |

Die Flow Lines |
Obverse 28 is identified by date placement at C and date repunching
that features an initial date impression to the north within the lower
loop of the 9. Obverse 28 has developed moderately heavy to heavy
die flow lines and has clashed with Reverse AB.
Reverse AB is in a similar die state as Obverse 28, with the
advancement of moderately heavy to heavy die flow lines. Reverse
AB has acquired clash marks through the C of CENT and to the right of
the denomination from a clashing event with Obverse 28.
Comments: The die clash
marks of Variety 26 fade with the advancement of die flow lines, with
the clash marks of Obverse 28 not visible save one between feathers 5
and 6; while the Reverse AB clash marks to the right of the
denomination are barely visible.
Variety 26 was first identified
by David Killough, who submitted the above plate coin during mid
January 2018 for inclusion in this book based on the Obverse 28 date
repunching.
