Obverse 8 is identified by date placement at C and date repunching that
features initial date impressions to the south below the serif and base
of the 1, to the south within both loops and below the base of the 8, to
the north above the tops of the 9 and 7. Obverse 8 is
observed die polish lines.
Reverse
H is rotated 7 degrees clockwise and is observed with die polish lines.
Reverse H has developed the following die cracks:
1. Light radial die crack from the denticles at 12:30 extends
downward through the tip of the right wreath, through ON(E) and CEN(T)
and through the top arrowhead to the middle arrow shaft.
2. Light die crack from the rim at 4:15 extends upward into
the lowest arrowhead.
3. Light die crack from the denticles at 4:45 extends upward
into the right ribbon end.
4. Light die crack from the denticles at 5:15 extends upward
into the wreath stem.
5. Light die crack from the denticles at 7:00 extends upward
into the arrow quill.
6. Light die crack from the denticles at 8:00 extends upward
into the top olive leaf.
7. Radial die crack segment extends upward from the olive
leaves and continues through (C)ENT AND (O)NE.
Comments: The
Obverse 8 initial date impressions above the 9 and 7 were previously
unidentified prior to publication in this book.
