Obverse 26 is Observed with date placement at RH and has acquired clash marks in front of the eye of Miss Liberty, above the first three feathers and between feathers 7, 8 and 9 from a clashing event with Reverse Z.  Obverse 26 has developed the following die cracks:
1.  Die crack from the rim at 12:30, where a small rim break has developed, through the field and connecting the tops of 'OF'.
2.  Die crack from the rim at 2:00 downward connecting the tops of 'MERICA' of AMERICA.
3.  Die crack connecting the tops of feathers 7, 8 and 9 and extending into the field adjacent the lower hair curls.
4.  Die crack from the rim at 4:30, where a small rim break has developed, connects the bases of the date and joins with crack #5.
5.  Die crack from the rim at 6:30 upward connecting the tops of 'UN' of UNITED.
6.  Die crack from the rim at 9:45 upward through "TES' of STATES.

Reverse Z has acquired clash marks through the C of CENT and to the right of the denomination from a clashing event with Obverse 26.  Reverse Z has developed the following die cracks:
1.  Die crack from the rim at 12:45 into the top right of the shield.
2.  Die crack in the right wreath between 1:00 and 1:45.
3.  Die crack from the rim at 3:00 upward through the outer edge of the right wreath to a point at 1:30.
4.  Die crack between 3:00 and 3:30 within the right wreath.
5.  Die crack between 3:30 and 4:15 within the right wreath.
6.  Die crack within the olive leaves at 6:30 upward through the outer edge of the left wreath to a point at 10:15.
7.  Die crack from the rim at 8:30 connects with die crack #6.
Rev. Z.2:  The Reverse Z die cracking on the left side has now become severe.  In addition, Reverse Z has developed a small die break at the outer edge of the left wreath at 8:30 and the following additional die cracks:
8.  Moderately severe die crack from the rim at 7:00 extends upward through the lowest olive leaf, where it intersects die crack #6.
9.  Die crack from the rim at 9:45 intersects die crack #6.
10.  Die crack from the rim at 10:15 intersects die crack #6.

Comments:  Variety 24 is characterized by extensive die cracking of both obverse and reverse, with the die cracking of Obverse 26 light and the Reverse Z die cracking moderately heavy.

Variety 24 was first identified by David Killough, who submitted the above plate coin during mid November 2018 for inclusion in this book based on the Obverse 26 and Reverse Z die cracking.

During early December 2022, David Killough identified and submitted an example of Variety 24 with Reverse Z now exhibiting severe die cracking on the left side as well as additional die cracks from 7:00, 9:45 and 10:15.  Based on the bi-level field area at 10:15, there exists a very good probability that the section between 9:45 and 10:15 will develop a break during a subsequent Reverse Z die state.
