Reverse Diagnostics

Clash Mark Through The C Of CENT

Obverse 20 is identified by date placement at LH and date repunching that features an initial date impression to the north within the lower loop of the 8.  Obverse 20 has developed light die flow lines.

Reverse T is rotated 5 degrees clockwise and is in a similar die state as Obverse 20, with the advancement of light die flow lines.

Comments:  The Obverse 20 date repunching is similar to that of Obverse 22 from the 1893 Variety 20 die pairing.  However, the date position of Obverse 22 is located further to the right compared to Obverse 20.

Variety 18 was first identified by David Killough, who submitted the above plate coin during mid January 2018 for inclusion in this book based on the Obverse 20 date repunching.

Plate Coin:  David Killough Collection, AU55 (Snow 22 Plate Coin)
