Obverse 64 is identified by date placement at C, the top of a misplaced 9 digit within the denticles below the second 8 of the date and date repunching that features initial date impressions located to the north within both loops of the 8 digits and to the north within the upper loop of the 9.

Reverse AAK has acquired a clash mark through (C)ENT and is observed with numerous die lines among the vertical shield bars.

Comments:   The Obverse 64 date repunching, as well as the date position and orientation, is virtually identical to that of Obverse 29 from the 1889 Variety 27 Die Pairing.  The differences between Obverse 64 and Obverse 29 are the appearance of the initial date impression within the upper loop of the 9 and the misplaced digit artifact of Obverse 64.  The appearance of the Obverse 64 initial date impression within the upper loop of the 9 is more linear compared to the Obverse 29 curved artifact within the upper loop of the 9 that also exhibits a solid section that connects to the bottom of the upper loop.
Although Variety 63 and Variety 27 appear to be the same die pairing, it is the obverse comparisons I wrote of above as well as different hubbing depth characteristics between Reverse AAK of Variety 63 and Reverse AB of Variety 27 that give sufficient evidence for me to err on the side of caution and publish Variety 63 as a newly identified die pairing.

Variety 63 was first identified by David Killough, who submitted the above plate coin during early July 2022 for inclusion in this book based on the date repunching and misplaced digit of Obverse 64
