Die Crack from 5:00

Obverse 12 is identified by digit punch artifacts around the first and second 8, with date placement at B.  Obverse 12 develops the following die cracks:
1.  Light die crack connecting the 1 and 8 of the date.
2.  Light die crack connecting the tops of NITED ST of UNITED STATES.

Reverse M develops the following die crack:
1.  Die crack fromt the rim at 5:00 upward through the lower and middle arrowheads to the first oak leaf.

Comments:  Though the artifacts around the first and second 8 of Obverse 12 appear to be initial date impressions, they are actually digit punch artifacts and will appear on other 1887 obverses that were impressed with this digit punch.  One particular obverse that exhibits these artifacts is Obverse 35 from the 1887 Variety 30 Die Pairing.

Plate coin:  David Killough Collection, VF20
