1884 Snow 5

Obverse Diagnostics

Misplaced 8 in the Denticles

Die Crack above AMERICA

Reverse Diagnostics

Comments:  Date placement is B.  Misplaced 8 digit may be seen the two primary 8 digits of the date.  Die Stage B is observed with a die crack from 2:30 extending above the tops of AMERICA.

The reverse shield point appear to be connected to the denticles and the olive leaf is away on the above example, whereas the shield points are away from the denticles and the olive leaf is connected according to Rick Snows attribution book.  The above example may indeed be a new die marriage with the Snow 5 obverse.  Die stage B is observed with a light die crack from 11:30 extending into the shield and a moderately heavy one from 1:00 extending into the righ wreath.
