Clash Marks Through (C)ENT

Rev. O.2 Retained Cud between 8:45 and 10:15

Obverse 13 is observed with date placement at LH and numerous die lines around the ribbon, upper hair curl, designer's initial and eye.  Obverse 13 has acquired two sets of clash marks in front of the eye of Miss Liberty from a clashing event with Reverse O and has developed the following die cracks:
1.  Light die crack from the denticles at 1:15 to '(O)F'.
2.  Die crack connecting 'OF' and the tops of '(AMER)ICA'.
3.  Die crack from the base of the 4 extends to the east into the field.
4.  Die crack from the denticles at 9:15 downward connecting the tops of 'UNITED'.
5.  Die crack from the denticles at 10:15 connecting the tops of 'STA(TES)', through the first two feather tips and through the field into '(O)F'.

Reverse O is rotated 5 degrees counter clockwise.  Reverse O has acquired two sets of clash marks through (C)ENT from a clashing event with Obverse 13 and the following die cracks:
1.  Die crack from the upper right side of the shield that extends into the field.
2.  Die crack segement between 2:00 and 2:45 within the outer edge of the right wreath.
3.  Die crack from the rim at 3:15 downward through the middle and lower arrowheads to the right ribbon end.  A die crack extends from the aforementioned die crack at 3:30 and continues upward and diagonally to the acorn at 9:00.
4.  Die crack from the rim at 6:45 upward into the arrow quill.
5.  Die crack from the rim at 8:15 through the olive leaves and ribbon knot.
6.  Heavy die crack from the rim at 8:45 upward through the left wreath to the rim at 10:15.  Lighter die crack extends from the souther section of the aforementioned die crack to the olive leaves and a second extends from the upper section to the denticles at 10:30.
7.  Die crack from the upper left side of the shield that extends into the top of the left wreath.
Rev. O.2:  The Reverse O section between 8:45 and 10:15 has now formed a retained cud.

Comments:  Variety 10 was first identified by this author during early March 2017.

During late August 2019,  David Killough submitted an earlier die state of Variety 10 prior to the formation of the Reverse O retained cud between 8:45 and 10:15.  David's example exhibits a severe die crack between 8:45 and 10:15, with a bi-level field evident at the southern section.  Based on the severity of this die crack, Reverse O will soon transition into the Reverse O.2 die state.
