Reverse AJ Die Crack Mapping

Primary Die Crack (Click Image To Enlarge)

Obverse 36 is observed with date placement at B and a broken base 3 digit of the date.  Obverse 36 exhibits a late die state and has developed the following die crack:
1.  Die crack connecting the tops of 'OF AMERICA'.

Reverse AJ exhibits a late die state and has developed the following die cracks:
1.  Severe die crack from the rim at 3:15 extends downward through the lower oak leaves, middle and lower arrowheads and the right ribbon end, where it exits into the rim at 5:00.
2.  Die crack segment extending along the outer edge of the left wreath between 9:00 and 9:15.
3.  Die crack from the denticles at 9:45 extends downward into the left wreath.

Comments:  Several 1883 reverses crack in a similar manner and location as the Reverse AJ die crack between 3:15 and 5:00.  Based on the severity of this die crack, I suspect a subsequent Reverse AJ die state to be identified with a break in this area.

Variety 31 was first identified by David Killough, who submitted the above plate coin during early January 2022 for inclusion in this book based on the severe die cracking between 3:15 and 5:00 of Reverse AJ.
