Obverse 17 is observed with date placement at B, a die chip located on the cheek and positioned to the left of the ear and partially broken top of 'UNITE(D)'.

Type I Reverse A has acquired a light clash mark through (C)ENT.

Comments:  Type I Reverse A represents one of the remaining Type I reverses, which feature a shallow O(N)E.  During 1870, the Type I reverse was superseded by the Type II reverse hub design, which features a bold O(N)E.  Accounting for only 4 reverses thus far identified that were in service in 1872, the Type I Reverse is scarce compared to the Type II Reverse.
