Type II Reverse M Die Crack Mapping

Obverse 13 is observed with date placement at RH and a lint hub-through by the L of Liberty.  Obverse 13 has developed moderately heavy to heavy die flow lines, a rim break at 4:45 and the following die cracks:
1.  Die crack from the denticles at 2:30 downward connecting the tops of 'MERIC' of AMERICA.
2.  Die crack from the denticles at 6:45 connecting the bases of the date.
3.  Die crack from the denticles at 6:45 upward connecting the tops of 'UNIT' of UNITED and exiting at the rim at 9:00.
4.  Die crack from the denticles at 10:00 upward connecting the tops of 'ATE' of STATES.

Type II Reverse M has developed the following die cracks:
1.  Die crack from the rim at 6:45 upward through the left wreath to a point at 8:30 at the outer edge of the wreath.
2.  Die crack connecting with die crack #1 at the olive leaves at 7:30 and extending across the bottom of the wreath to the ribbon end.

Comments:  Obverse 13 and Type II Reverse M exhibit different die states, with Obverse 13 developing moderately heavy to heavy die flow lines and Type II Reverse M exhibiting little or no die flow lines.  The difference in die states between Obverse 13 and Type II Reverse M indicate Obverse 13 was in service prior to Type II Variety 12.

Type II Variety 12 was first identified by Paul Nomes, who submitted the above plate coin during mid January 2019 for inclusion in this book based on the die cracking of Obverse 13 and Type II Reverse M.
