Reverse D Die Crack Mapping

The second usage of Obverse 6.  Obverse 6 is identified by date placement at B and approximately 6 sets of misplaced digit punch impressions in the denticles below the date.  Obverse 6 has acquired clash marks in front of the eye of Miss Liberty and has developed the following die cracks:
1.  Die crack from the rim at 5:00 through the base of the digits of the date.
2.  Die crack from the denticles at 8:15, connecting the tops of ED of UNITED and exiting at 10:00.

Reverse D is rotated 13 degrees clockwise and is identified by Class III Hub Doubling of O(N)E and C(EN)T.  Reverse D has acquired a clash mark through (C)ENT and has developed the following die cracks and partial cud:
1.  Die crack from the rim at 1:15 extends downward through the outer edge of the right wreath and exits into the rim at 3:15.
2.  Partial cud from the rim at 3:15 extends through the lowest oak leaf, middle and lower arrowheads, right ribbon end and wreath stem, where it exits into the rim at 5:15.
3.  Die crack from the rim at 8:00 extends through the olive leaves.

Comments:  The multiple misplaced digit punch impressions of Obverse 6 are quite interesting, with the number of misplaced digits far exceeding any other obverse in the entire series.

Reverse J was initially hubbed with a Type I reverse working hub, then subsequently hubbed with a Type II reverse working hub.  The resulting hubbing from two different designs from working hubs created class III Design Hub Doubling visible on O(N)E and CE(N)T.

Reverse D will be retired due to the development of a break between 3:15 and 5:15 during a subsequent die state, which results in Obverse 6 eventually being paired with Type I Reverse J during the 1870 Type I Variety 10 Die Pairing.
