Reverse R Die Crack Mapping

Obverse 17 is identified by date placement at RH and date repunching that features initial date impressions to the south below the serif and base of the 1.  Obverse 17 is observed with numerous die polish lines.

Reverse R has acquired a clash mark through (C)ENT and is observed with a die line extending diagonally from the denticles at 1:00 and continuing into the upper section of the right wreath, as well as die lines extending upward to the northwest from the tips of the olive leaves.  Reverse R is observed with numerous die polish lines.  Reverse R has developed the following die crack:
1.  Die crack segment extending upward from the top of the middle arrowhead and continuing through the right wreath.

Comments:  The Obverse 17 die polish lines give the illusion of hairlines from an improper cleaning; however, these are raised lines and are the result of the Mint polishing the working die.

Plate coin:  Bob Travis Collection, PCGS AU58
