1863 Variety 24

Obverse 24

Reverse Z

Obverse Diagnostics

Base of 1 extending from Bust Point

*Close-up of date is courtesy of Eagle Eye Rare Coins inventory 9/14/14, PCGS MS64.*

Comments:  Date placement is LH.  The base of a 1 digit extends into the field from the bust point.  Because of the geometry, it is reasoned to be from a digit punch rather than a die chip or other working die characteristic.
