Obverse 82 is observed with date placement at B and
has developed heavy die flow lines.
Reverse AAAI is rotated 11 degrees clockwise and has developed
moderately heavy die flow lines. Reverse AAAI has developed a cud
between 1:45 and 2:45 and the following die cracks:
1. Die Crack From the lowest arrowhead upward through the
right wreath to the first acorn.
2. Heavy die crack from the rim at 4:15 through the lowest
arrowhead and shaft to the right ribbon end.
3. Moderately heavy die crack from the rim at 6:45 along the
edges of the arrow quill and olive leaf to the ribbon knot.
Comments: Though
Reverse AAAI has developed moderately heavy die flow lines, Obverse 82
is the more heavily die flow lined of the two as evidenced by heavy die
flow lines by the denticles of Obverse 82. The difference in
die states
between Obverse 82 and Reverse AAAI indicates that Obverse 82 was in
service prior to the Variety 85 die pairing. The following
illustrates the difference in die states between Obverse
82 and Reverse AAAI:
