Obverse 78 is observed with date placement at RH.

Reverse AAAD is rotated 9 degrees clockwise and has developed a retained cud between 7:45 and 8:30.  Reverse AAAD develops the following die cracks:
1.  Die crack f rom the denticles at 3:15 extends downward through the right wreath and through the middle and lower arrowheads.
2.  Heavy die crack from the rim at 7:00 extends upward into the lowest olive leaf.
3.  Die crack from the rim at 11:15 extends downward into the top of the left wreath.
Rev. AAAD.2:  Reverse AAAD is now rotated 10 degrees clockwise and the retained portion of the die break between 7:45 and 8:30 is absent.

Comments:  The Reverse AAAD retained cud is quite similar to the Reverse AAF retained cud from the 1863 Variety 56 die pairing.

Variety 80 and 80a were first identified by this author during early December 2018 and late June 2019 respectively.
