Obverse 55 is observed with date placement at LH.

Reverse AAG has developed a cud between 8:30 and 10:30.  Reverse AAG has developed the following die crack:
1.  Die Crack from the rim at 8:00 extends into the olive leaves.

Comments:  Variety 57 was first identified in the book 'The Design Cud' by Paul Marvin and Arnold Margolis, with a reference number of IC-1863-3RB.  The above plate coin is the IC-1863-3RB Plate Coin in 'The Design Cud' and the ICN-1863-3RB Plate Coin in 'The Cud Book' by Sam Thurman and Arnold Margolis.

The Marvin & Margolis reference number IC-1863-3RB, as well as the Sam Thurman reference number ICN-1863-3RB, indicate that the Reverse AAG cud progressed in size from a smaller retained cud identified in both references as IC-1863-3RA RET and ICN-1863-3RA RET, respectively.  However, IC-1863-3RA RET and ICN-1863-3RA RET were struck from a different working reverse die during the 1863 Variety 30 Die Pairing.

Reverse AAG will exhibit weakness of strike on the right half due to the working die misalignment that occurred during the Variety 57 die pairing.
