Obverse 47 is identified by date placement at LE and date repunching that features initial date impressions to the north within the upper and lower loops of the 9 and to the south and north within the 0.

Reverse AU is identified by a prominent die line from the denticles at 3:00 that extends downward into the right wreath and a second die line located within the denticles between the left ribbon end and arrow quill.  Reverse AU has developed the following die cracks:
1.  Radial die crack from the rim at 5:30 that extends upward into the base of the ribbon knot.
2.  Radial dei crack from the rim at 9:00 that extends through the left wreath and continues through the field and into (C)ENT.

Comments:  Variety 45 represents the initial usage of Obverse 47, which will later be paired with Reverse AV during the 1908 Variety 46 Die Pairing.

The Variety 45 Plate Coin was submitted by David Killough during mid May 2020 for inclusion in this book based on the repunched 9 of the obverse.  Examination revealed the identity of the obverse as Obverse 47, which was later employed during the 1908 Variety 46 Die Pairing.  The distinction between the Variety 45 and Variety 46 Die Pairings is the hubbing depth of the respective reverses.  Reverse AU of the Variety 45 Die Pairing features the shield points connected to the denticles, whereas Reverse AV of the Variety 46 Die Pairing exhibits shield poins just away from the denticles.
