Obverse 31 is identified by date placement at B, the top of a misplaced 8 in the denticles below the 0 of the date and date repunching that features initial date impressions to the northwest above the base of the 1; to the north within the upper loop of the 9; to the north above, to the northeast within and to the south below the base of the 0.  Obverse 31 has developed light die flow lines.
Obv. 31.2:  Obverse 31 has now developed moderately heavy die flow lines.

Reverse AE is in a similar die state as Obverse 31, with the advancement of light die flow lines.
Rev. AE.2:  Reverse AE has now developed moderately heavy die flow lines.

Comments:  Variety 29 was first identified by this author during 2012, during which time I had submitted the above plate coin to Rick Snow for attribution based on the Obverse 31 date repunching and misplaced digit. However, he only identified the repunched 0 in his attribution and made no mention of the misplaced digit.

The Obverse 31 misplaced digit is the result of an initial date impression that was positioned far to the southwest with respect to the final date placement.

Although it may appear that the 1 digit does not exhibit repunching, the offset nature of the base of the 1 indicates that the 1 digit was also repunched.  The Obverse 31 initial date impressions suggest a clockwise rotation was evident with respect to the final date placement.

During mid January 2019, David Killough submitted a second example of Variety 29 that resided in an incrementally later die state compared to the above plate coin.  David's coin has been assigned the Variety 29a die pairing number in order to capture the incremental die state.
