Clash Mark Through (C)ENT

Obverse 61 is identified by date placement at RH and date repunching that features initial date impression located to the east of the base of the 1, to the south within the upper loop of the 9, to the south within the 0 and to the north within the lower loop of the 5.  Obverse 61 is observed with artifacts among the denticles below the 1 digit and has acquired a clash mark in front of the eye of Miss Liberty from a clashing event with Reverse AAK.

Reverse AAK is rotated 10 degrees clockwise and has acquired a clash mark through (C)ENT from a clashing event with Obverse 61.

Comments:   The Variety 62 Die Pairing was first identified by David Killough, who submitted the previous plate coin during mid May 2021 for inclusion in this book based on the date repunching of Obverse 61.  During mid May 2023, I found a higher grade example to utilize as the Variety 62 Plate Coin, which features additional initial date impressions that were not identified on the previous plate coin due to environmental damage.

Plate Coin:  D. Poliquin Collection, MS62BN
