Repunched 1 and 9 |
Obverse 53 is identified by date placement at LH and date repunching
that features initial date impressions to the northwest above the left
base of the 1 and outside the ball of the 9. Obverse 53 was struck from misaligned working dies.
Reverse AAB is rotated 11 degrees clockwise.
Comments: Variety 53 was
first identified by David Killough, who submitted the above plate coin
during late July 2018 for inclusion in this book based on the date
repunching of Obverse 53.
