The second usage of Obverse 11.
Obverse 11 is identified by date placement at C and the tops of two
sets of misplaced 8, 9 and 1 digits among the denticles below the 8, 9
and 1 digits of the date. During this second usage of Obverse 11,
the tops of the misplaced 9 and 1 digits are not discernible and the
top of the misplaced 8 digit is no longer visible due to the
deterioration of Obverse 11. In addition, Obverse 11 has now
developed the following die crack: 1. Die crack from the rim at 4:00 extends upward through the tops of 'A(MER)ICA'.
Reverse
AN may be identified by a die line within the ribbon bow. Reverse
AN has acquired a clash mark from a clashing event during its previous
assignment.
Comments: Obverse 11 was previously in service paired with Reverse K during the 1891 Variety 8 Die Pairing.
Variety 37 was first identified by this author during early April 2004.
