Obverse 39 is identified by date placement at LH with date repunching
that features initial date impressions to the northwest above the serif
and top of the 1 and to the northwest within both loops as well as
outside the top left side of the bottom loop of the 8. Obverse 39
will exhibit deformed denticles below the base of the 1 due to metal
movement from the date impression into the working die.
Reverse AL is yet to be observed with any die markers.
Comments:
Variety 38 was first identified by David Killough, who submitted the
above plate coin during late July 2017 for inclusion in this book based
on the Obverse 39 date repunching.
