Obverse 38 is identified by date placement at RE and date repunching that features initial date impressions to the south under the serif of the 1, to the south within both loops of the first 8 and to the south within the lower loop of the second 8.  Obverse 38 has developed heavy die flow lines and has acquired a clash mark in front of the eye of Miss Liberty from a clashing event with Reverse AK.

Reverse AK is rotated 5 degrees clockwise.  Reverse AK is in a similar die state as Obverse 38, with the advancement of heavy die flow lines.  Reverse AK has acquired a clash mark through the C of CENT from a clashing event with Obverse 38.

Comments:   Variety 37 was first identified by David Killough, who submitted the above plate coin during late July 2017 for inclusion in this book based on the Obverse 38 date repunching.
