Obverse 3 is identified by date placement at LH and hub doubling on IBERTY of LIBERTY as well as the ear and right side of the ribbon. Obverse 3 is observed with a die chip on the forehead and within the first hair curl. Obverse 3 has developed moderately heavy to heavy die flow lines.

Reverse O exhibits a modest rotation of 4 degrees counter clockwise and is identified by two die chips located at 3:00 within the right wreath and two die chips located at 9:00 in the left wreath. Reverse O is observed with a die line that extends upward from the upper olive leaf. Reverse O has developed the following die crack:
1. Die crack from the denticles at 6:00 upward through the left ribbon end and extending upward through the left wreath to a point at 9:45.

Comments: Variety 5 represents the third and latest die pairing of Obverse 3, which is now paired with Reverse O. Obverse 3 was previously in service with Reverse C during the Variety 4 Die Pairing.

Variety 5 was first identified by David Killough, who submitted the above plate coin during late August 2018 for inclusion in this book based on his discovery of the Obverse 3 / Reverse O die pairing.
