1863 Variety 62

Obverse 60

Reverse AAL

Obverse Diagnostics

Date Position

Reverse Diagnostics

Retained Cud between 6:30 and 7:45

Obverse 60 is observed with an upward sloped date with placement at C.

Reverse AAL has developed a retained cud between 6:30 and 7:45.

Comments:  The northern section of the reverse AAL die break resided at a lower depth within the working die, with the remainder of the die break progressively diminishing in depth towards the southern section.

The Reverse AAL retained cud is very similar in size, shape and location to that of the Reverse L retained cud from the 1863 Variety 10 die pairing.

Variety 62 was first identified by this author during early December 2016.

Plate coin:  Keith Bock Collection, G6
