Cud Between 11:30 and 12:30

Obverse 40 is observed with date placement at RH.

Reverse AR was struck with a misaligned working die and has developed a cud between 11:30 and 12:30.

Comments:  Obverse 40 exhibits weakness in strike in the denticles below the date due to the formation of the reverse cud.  Since there is an additional demand for metal to fill the void left on the reverse die, a corresponding weakness will manifest under the date of the obverse.

Variety 42 was first seen by this author during late June 2015.

Plate Coin:  D. Poliquin, VF20
