Obverse 26 was struck from misaligned working dies and is observed with date placement at B.  Obverse 26 has developed moderately heavy to heavy die flow lines and two rim breaks between 6:00 and 6:45.

Reverse AB was struck from misaligned working dies and is severely cracked with the following crack locations:
1.  Die crack from the denticles at 12:00 that is tangent to the top right of the shield and continues into the wreath at 3:30.
2.  Radial die crack from the rim at 4:30 that continues through the denomination and terminates within the right side of (0)NE.  A die break occurs during its progression, which connects O(N)E and C(EN)T.
3.  Three small die cracks originate from the crack of #2 at the middle arrowhead.  Two continue upward from the middle arrowhead into the right wreath.  The third die crack originates from a small die break at the base of the middle arrowhead and will continue along the arrow shaft, through the ribbon knot and will continue upward through the left wreath to a point at 10:00.
4.  Die crack from the rim at 8:00 into the olive leaves.
5.  Radial die crack from the rim at 10:45 continues through the left wreath and field, where it will touch the top left of the O(N)E.
Rev. AB.2:  Reverse AB now forms a second die break, which connects the base of CEN(T) with the top arrowhead.  In addition, the section of die crack that progresses through CE(NT) and (ON)E has now become more severe.
Rev. AB.3:  The die break at the center of the denomination has enlarged and connects (ON)E and C(EN)T.

Comments:  The Variety 26b Plate Coin was kindly furnished by Russell Doughty in early January 2015.  Russell had originally discovered the Variety 26 die pairing.

An earlier die state of Variety 26, which features a less prominent die break in the center of the denominaton and no break connecting CEN(T) with the top arrowhead, was identified by this author during late June 2019.  This example has now become the Variety 26 Plate Coin in order to capture the earlier die state of Reverse AB.
